What is the Spotted Frog Art Studio?
Tracey Joy is the owner and main artist of the Spotted Frog Art Studio LLC. She organizes different events in restaurants and also does private parties and fundraisers. Tracey travels across New Jersey and even to Pennsylvania for these events.
She is a Burlington County resident that has been in business for over 9 years and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration. During the pandemic she even ran free painting classes on her Facebook page. She makes hand-painted and wood-burned projects that she sells as well as commissioned work. She also does window painting for businesses.
What are the Dine and Paint events?
These are instructional painting classes that are put on at different area restaurants. They are unique since in addition to an art project you can also eat at these events. In lieu of a canvas many of these events feature painting on different mediums such as glass vases, serving trays and lanterns.
Know Before You Go
1) Wear clothes that you do not mind getting messy. While aprons will be provided during the class it is still easy to accidentally get paint on your outfit.
2) Plan to arrive ten minutes early. Remember to scout out parking beforehand.
3) Keep a piece of cardboard or cardboard box in your car. This will be great for laying your piece on for the drive home.
Our Experience making Snowman Candy Bowl Holders at Marcello’s
My husband and I attended an event held at Marcello’s in Bordentown. Marcello’s is already a favorite restaurant of ours due to its tasty food and classy atmosphere. We arrived early so that we could easily find some street parking.
Five minutes prior to the event start time everyone was called into the side room. There multiple tables were already set up with name cards, paint trays, water cups and brushes. Staff was on hand to take everyone’s orders promptly for dinner. Meanwhile each person went up to select if they wanted to paint a large candle holder or candy bowl.
We started by chatting with the other people at our table. People were there for a fun date night or night out with friends. Dinner was soon served. My husband and I both selected a tasty dinner with a Caesar salad and the penne vodka with meatball. The person next to us ordered a pizzette which was large and looked very tasty as well. After dining it was time to start our projects!
Tracey Joy was very friendly and a great teacher. She taught us everything step by step. She even told us which brushes to use and fun tips for things such as making textured snow. If anyone’s project started to go awry or if anyone wanted tips to make theirs a little differently she was ready to give pointers.
At the end of the night my husband and I were very happy with our snowman creations. We also liked that we had learned some more techniques for making things that we had not known beforehand. We really enjoyed that we were able to do dinner and an art project together all at the same location.
