Lollygagging in Lambertville

Lambertville is a beautiful New Jersey river town. It features shops, restaurants, live theater, a farm and art galleries. Be sure to pay it a visit!

Lambertville is a New Jersey town that we love to frequent. There is a tight-knit downtown with lots of places to check out. The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail also runs through Lambertville. There is lots of greenery and a farm that takes you back to the olden days. The town is also LGBTQ+ friendly. Be sure to walk through some of the smaller streets to find paths and outdoor dining spots. If you want to head to Pennsylvania you can also just walk over the bridge to New Hope!

I have written about some of our favorite places in Lambertville below. There are many more to check out!

Before Visiting

Check out this map to get a layout for the town. Wear some good sneakers! It is a very walkable town. There are a couple of our favorite places that you need to drive to reach but they are easy to find.

Music Mountain Theatre

This theatre has multiple shows throughout the year that are great for kids or adults. The theatre is small so there is not a bad seat in the house. Free parking is available in a lot outside. It is a good idea to buy tickets beforehand. There are restrooms inside and concessions available for purchase. Read about our recent visit to see Aristocats Kids and to learn about upcoming shows.

Howell Living History Farm

The Howell Living History Farm is one of our favorite New Jersey farms. When the kids were younger we visited for some of their weekday events. They heard stories, saw farm animals, planted seeds, took corn off the cob and more. We still try to visit at least a couple times a year for some of their events. People can learn how to do traditional farm chores, make ice cream and more!

New Hope-Lambertville Bridge

The bridge that goes from New Hope to Lambertville is not just used for the transport of cars. People can walk across it as well! My son loves to walk across the bridge on fair weather days. Be sure to walk over to get some great views of the river, New Hope and Lambertville.

Bucks on Bridge

Need a morning pick-me up? I like to head to Bucks on Bridge. It is on the left side of the street before you walk over the bridge. Aside from coffee they also have ice cream as well! They also have intermittent events such as Open Mic nights on Friday nights and Chess nights on Tuesdays.

Del-Vue Arcade Club

This is a fun place that has arcade games, pool, ping pong and more! The arcade is pay to play so you pay to put points on a card. There is also a retro living room and stage area where people can play multi-player console games. Fans of Stranger Things may enjoy the decor behind the couch.

We visited recently and the kids had fun playing the basketball arcade game. Their favorite part was playing some of the free board games and card games that were there. Their favorite games were Jenga and playing Uno with their giant cards.

El Tule

This Mexican and Peruvian restaurant has some tasty food. There is a nice outdoor seating area that also sometimes uses outdoor heaters. The inside is also colorfully decorated. Their menu also has a lot of gluten free options.

We went there for lunch recently and really enjoyed the Mexican Pozole soup and the Chicken Anticuchero Bowl.

Lambertville Trading Company

I stopped here for an afternoon coffee and it was great. It is a family owned coffee shop. I liked the warm lighting. They also sell other things such as interesting mugs and cool chocolates.

Nicola Pizzeria

My son and I stopped here to get some tasty slices for our lunch one day. The owner was accommodating towards our food allergies. He even stopped by to speak with us and gave my son a tiny triceratops toy. If you are going North to Lambertville it is on your right hand side right as you are reaching town.

Art Galleries

Lambertville also has some art galleries that are fun to stop inside. These include the Artists’ Gallery on Bridge Street and the Highlands Art Gallery on Union Street. There are multiple other galleries as well. The Haas Gallery is a nice one to visit with many landscape paintings.

Where to stay in Lambertville

These are options of places that you can stay when you visit Lambertville on this map.

I also included locations of a lot of our favorite spots in Lambertville.

Need other things to do in the area?

Walk over the bridge to New Hope and see a show at the Bucks County Playhouse. The Bucks County Children’s Museum is also a favorite for my kids.
