Boundary Creek Natural Resource Area
One of the best ways to unwind is to go for a walk. Boundary Creek Natural Resource Area is one of my favorite places to do this. It has panoramic views of the Rancocas Creek, abundant bird watching and well-maintained trails.

Where is Boundary Creek Park?
Boundary Creek Park is located at 515 Creek Road in Moorestown, NJ.
How long is the trail?
The total length of its trails is 1.3 miles. The trails are set up to look kind of like an infinity sign. If you only do one of the loops it is about a half mile. You can find the trail map here: Trail Map.
When is it open?
It is open from 7:00 am to dusk. They close the gate once the park closes.
Do you need hiking boots?
No. This is an easy trail that is mostly flat so it is easy to walk in sneakers. There are portions of it that are paved, have dirt, boardwalk and sand. If it has rained recently I do recommend wearing rain boots as it can get muddy.
Is there a parking lot?
Yes. There is a small parking lot with spaces arranged in a semicircle after you drive onto the small road to get to the park.
Is there a restroom?
There are restrooms available inside the small building that can be seen from the parking lot.
Is it stroller friendly?
Yes. It is easy to push even a regular style stroller here. I used to often push my Graco stroller frame with the car seat inside of it when my kids were younger.
What are other special features of this park?
There are small tables with benches in the field of the park that is closest to the parking lot. My kids like to play in the gazebo area. There is a pond next to it where you can sometimes see frogs or turtles.
There are branches off of the main trail that have boardwalk sections. These meander through the cattails and have viewing platforms which give you a good view of the Rancocas Creek, houses and of birds. One of the platforms even has two free observation binoculars.
Bird blinds throughout the park help you do bird watching more covertly. There is a meadow area that is great for seeing butterflies. There is also a giant sundial.
If you have trouble walking for long distances this is a good park since the trail is not too long and there are multiple benches along the way.

What kinds of topography will you find at the park?
This park has forests, fields, meadows, wetlands and the Rancocas Creek. It is amazing how much there is has to offer within its 34 acres.
What things may you see in the park?
We have seen turtles and frogs. I have often seen a great blue heron. We have commonly seen woodpeckers and multiple kinds of wrens on our walks. The kids often see cabbage whites, Painted Lady butterflies and Eastern Black Swallowtails. Birdwatchers would love it here since I often see many kinds of birds in this park.
How can you make your trip educational and fun for kids?
I have made these worksheets that go along with the sign boards that are posted along the trail. One of the pages also includes activity ideas for while you are in the park.
My kids also always like to take their small backpacks they use for hiking along with them. In these they generally bring things such as their Funtainer water bottles, magnifying glasses, binoculars, and a bird guide.
My Experience
This park is one of the closest to our house so it was one that our family likes to frequent. I find it very serene to walk here as it is rarely crowded. It is an easy walk that usually takes less than an hour.
One of my favorite parts about it is seeing the woodpeckers. My son loves to walk on boardwalks so the boardwalk sections are his favorite. My daughter likes to pretend the gazebo is their house and lay on the long bench-like area inside of it. They both enjoy walking on the left hand loop (the Meadow Perimeter Trail) since this takes you behind the house they call the Madrigal house since it resembles the house from Encanto.
Our family has visited here with friends different times as well. We have done things such as looked for wildlife, made our own Easter egg hunt, did bird watching or did scavenger hunts along the trails. This is also a park we have visited for various programs through the Burlington County Parks Department. This past summer we had done a map activity here with the Junior Ranger program.
The loop on the right hand side (the Orchard Perimeter Trail) is mostly in the shade which is great for hot summer days. This trail is beautiful in every season whether there are buds on the trees or fall leaves.
The winter is actually one of my favorite seasons to visit this park. It is fun to trudge through the snow on the trail in our snow boots. Since there are not leaves on the trees it is often easier to see birds that are around. Our kids love to play in the snow near the parking lot.
What are other things to see in the area?
Boundary Creek Natural Resource Area is close to Rancocas Woods. This often has open mic nights and weekend events.
