Fintastic Pumpkin Glow at the Adventure Aquarium

The Adventure Aquarium has been besieged by glowing pumpkins! Be sure to visit before the fun ends on November 3rd.

Where is the Fintastic Pumpkin Glow?

It is at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ.

What is the Fintastic Pumpkin Glow?

The Fintastic Pumpkin Glow is a fall event happening for a limited number of days at the Adventure Aquarium. The aquarium is filled with numerous glowing gourds as you walk the halls. There are other special things happening at this time as well.

What 8 Things Should I Do During the Fintastic Pumpkin Glow?

  1. Pick up a visitor’s guide to find all of the gourd locations. They are marked as a pumpkin on the map.

  2. Do not miss the underwater pumpkin carving in the tank with the sea turtles! (Check the schedule for times.)

  3. Be sure to check out the sensory table with rice and glowing pumpkins close to the hippos.

  4. Go outside to take some photo ops with the fall decor. Also take photos at some autumn decorations inside the aquarium as well.

  5. Have a dance party in the main lobby with the giant pumpkin sea turtle when the lights turn low.

  6. Check out the frogs on lily pads above the piranha tank during a “thunderstorm”.

  7. Find the underwater scarecrow guarding the pumpkin patch amidst the sharks.

  8. Paint a pumpkin. (There is a $5 fee for this.)

Glowing Sensory Fun

Our Experience

We have been to the aquarium in the past but this was our first time going during this special event. We first registered my son for his free Pre-K pass before heading to the aquarium and we made aquarium reservations for myself and my older daughter. We headed to the line outside of the aquarium and waited for about 45 minutes to obtain his Pre-K Kid’s Adventure Pass card before heading in.

We headed in to the aquarium and immediately picked up a Visitor’s Guide to find out what fun was in store for us today. We first got a photo of us in front of the giant glowing pumpkin outline on the wall. We then headed to see the pumpkin frogs on lily pads floating above the piranhas. After this we visited the giant sea turtle located in the center of the aquarium.

After this we headed to touch some stingrays before the Underwater Pumpkin Carving. There was also a giant glowing octopus pumpkin structure behind the divers in the aquarium tank. The kids were amazed that the scuba diver was able to do this underwater. She even put a flashlight inside the pumpkin to make it glow!

Next we headed to touch the brown banded bamboo, white spotted bamboo and epaulette sharks. After that it was time for the hippo feeding. This is always fascinating to watch. They happened to be chowing down on some bok choy during this feeding. There was also a table with sensory bins of rice and glowing mini pumpkins near the hippos that the kids had fun playing with.

After this we walked past the moon jellyfish. We were in awe of the the glowing carvings above us. We saw a giant glowing shark before we reached the shark tunnel. Afterwards we even saw an underwater scarecrow and suspended fish and a seahorse in the air that were illuminated.

We then traversed the shark bridge numerous times before heading to the kid’s play area upstairs. The kids had fun watching the poison dart frogs and touching starfish. It was soon time for us to see the new 3-d movie playing, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The cute cartoon movie was good for kids. There were multiple references to things in the book such as the Nautilus submarine, Captain Nemo and the giant squid. After the movie we headed outside to see the African penguins and fall decor before we headed home.

“Just keep swimming.”

How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh?

Ten-tickles!

Is there a sneak peak of this that I can watch?

Yes! Here is the video: Fintastic Pumpkin Glow Video.
